Greensboro Urban Ministry

Greensboro Urban Ministry's mission is to express the love of God to people in need through food, shelter and solutions. We have served the Greensboro community since 1967.

Our Program Directors, Case Managers and volunteers help those in need to experience this love by helping them find paths to economic stability, personal fulfillment and spiritual well-being. Every day and night at Greensboro Urban Ministry, this is what we do because of your support:

-Serve over 180 households daily each week Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday through our Client Choice Food Pantry.  Households can shop once every 14 days

-Offer utility assistance for households at risk of becoming homeless

-Serve lunch for over 400 hungry men, women and children in Potter’s House Community Kitchen

-With congregational and community support, provide breakfast and dinner in Potter's House Community Kitchen for our Weaver House shelter guests

-Offer up to 100 homeless men/women temporary shelter in Weaver House and offer up to 16 homeless families temporary shelter at Pathways Center

-Provide safe, affordable housing at Partnership Village through ongoing rental assistance and supportive services to 68 households of formerly homeless men, women and families with children

-Meet our clients where they need us with case management, rehousing support and walk alongside them to self-sufficiency

Greensboro Urban Ministry meets men, women and families with children at their point of need. We offer food, shelter and long-term solutions.

Each year more than 2,900+ people volunteer to support our guests and help Urban Ministry accomplish its mission through our program areas.

We offer opportunities for individuals and groups to volunteers. There are various programs available in which an individual or group can volunteer:

Food Pantry - Sorting food, assisting clients with pantry choices, bagging, restocking shelves, warehouse unloading/stocking, etc.

Emergency Assistance -  Greeting guests and interviewing clients to determine need

Potter's House Community Kitchen - Purchasing/preparing and serving meals to the Weaver House residents

Pathways Family Center - Providing meals for the 16 families who reside at the Center and offering activities for children during adult programming

Partnership Village - tutoring for elementary-age students after school, participating with middle and high-school students in Future Bound, a college and career preparation program, volunteering at events for families throughout the year.
