Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont

Who We Are

Mission
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont (BBBSCP) creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Vision
All youth achieve their full potential.

History
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont has served children and families throughout Guilford County for many years by matching caring adult and college student mentors with youth facing adversity. Through community-based, site-based, and group mentoring programs, BBBSCP helps young people build confidence, develop positive relationships, and achieve greater success in school and life. The agency works in partnership with schools, universities, businesses, and community organizations to create meaningful mentoring opportunities that strengthen our communities.

What We Do

Through professionally supported mentoring relationships, BBBSCP helps youth build confidence, strengthen relationships, and achieve success in school and life.

To ensure the safety and success of every match, all volunteers complete a comprehensive enrollment process that includes an application, interview, reference checks, criminal background screening, and volunteer training. Youth and families also participate in an enrollment process to help us understand their strengths, interests, and needs.

Mentors commit to serving for at least one year, providing youth with the consistency and stability needed to build meaningful relationships. Throughout the match, BBBSCP staff provide ongoing support, coaching, and monitoring to help ensure positive outcomes for both the mentor and youth.
