Volunteer: Alzheimer's Association Congressional Team Member - Guilford CountyPolicy volunteers help improve the quality of care and quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families by carrying our message to elected officials at the federal, state and local levels. They communicate with elected officials via petitions, phone calls and other calls-to-action, participate in area events, and share their story.
ALZHEIMER’S CONGRESSIONAL TEAMS (ACTS)
The number of Americans living with Alzheimer's is growing — and growing fast. In the U.S., someone develops the disease every 65 seconds. While Alzheimer's places a huge burden on the health care system, with annual costs exceeding a quarter of a trillion dollars, the cost is far more than financial. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia. This is why we unrelentingly advocate for the rights of the Alzheimer’s and dementia community, as well as critical research funding. We advocate to change the trajectory of this disease.
Congressional Team Member volunteers are committed to advocacy and help to raise their elected officials’ awareness of and support for the Alzheimer’s Association’s public policy goals. Each ACT member’s efforts are crucial to the public policy success of the Association. ACT members work with their team leaders (“Ambassadors”) and Alzheimer’s Association staff on advocacy assignments to advance the Association's state and federal legislative priorities and build relationships with a designated member of Congress and staff.
Political experience is not required, and we will assign you to elected officials based on where you live and your interests.
